Recording the “Brecker Bros. Reunion” CD in NY, 2010

Producing a CD takes a lot of wisdom. And when I started, I didn’t have it. But over the last 25 years I’ve developed enough perspective to have produced 4 Grammy-winning CDs, and cuts on a couple more Grammy-winners. One day I’ll write a book on this, as well; it’s a bit of a black art until one has done it enough to understand how best to shephard someone’s music from a printed page, or a crunchy little demo, to its highest expression. I enjoy the whole process, and the bulk of the production I do is for repeat clients. These days, I also do a great deal of REMOTE PRODUCTION; clients send me their demos, or their sheet music; we have a discussion about where they’d like it to go, and I run with the ball from there, returning to them beautifully produced tracks ready for the next set (either them adding themselves into the mix, or recording additional musicians), after which I mix the tracks. Get in touch if you’d like to learn more about my approach to producing music, and we’ll take it from there…
